!!! Canceled !!! For the second year in a row, the COVID-19 pandemic halted the world’s largest snow kite competition. Red Bull Ragnarok, which was scheduled to take place in Uvdal, Norway on March 18-21, fell victim to these circumstances. Despite exhaustive efforts to find alternative solutions and avoid cancellation, it became increasingly evident that adhering to the directives from Norwegian health authorities necessitated the unfortunate cancellation of the 2021 event. As of now (2024), we eagerly await Red Bull’s initiative to revive this spectacular competition. We will keep you informed. Sign up to our newsletter ! If you are looking for a similar snowkite event we have the Pallas kite week in Finland !

“Red Bull Ragnarok was a lot harder than what I had expected! But my goal was to finish at least one lap, and that I did. The race has been amazing, it is so much fun to meet new people from different backgrounds. I have been embraced and accepted, and I have learnt so much during these three day. I just want to continue kiting and prepare for next year.” Participant from Spain, 2016

In case of low wind conditions
Unfortunately, as you would know if you kitesurf on a regular basis, the wind even in perfect and renown kiting spots doesn’t always pan-out. So we at Snowkite Sensation make sure that there is plenty for you to do in this unfortunate scenario.
Other winter sports: Geilo is a well-known winter destination, enjoy cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and other winter activities like biathlon, dog sledding, sledging, snowmobile and much more. Skarslia ski resort offers fantastic sledding hills, well-prepared downhill slopes for adults and children. Parts of the ski slopes also have floodlights which means you can go skiing in the evening.
Discover the region
Gastronomy: the local cuisine of the Viking country is incredibly varied. From the king crabs of Honningsvåg with their generous claws, to rakfish made from dried cod or trout, not to mention the characteristic sardines of Stavanger and its salmon which is known across the world for its quality. Norway has an abundance of recipes. Meat is not to be outdone, with ‘’Fårikål’’ of deer or reindeer, veal meatballs ‘’kjøttkaker’’ or even whale meat. You can’t miss the geitost, a bitter-sweet goat’s cheese eaten for breakfast and in sandwiches. Would you have a slice?
Visiting and relaxing: in Norway, almost all houses come with a sauna in hand. What a better way to relax after a long snowkite session! If you feel restless why not have a little stroll down the city centre. Geilo is home to many traditional crafts, most notably blacksmithing, so it is a great place to pick up some well-crafted gifts to take home. Tools, knives and cutlery are all made in local workshops along with wooden crafts and a range of items from sheep skin and other hides.
